Stockholm is one of my favourite cities to visit, especially during summer months. The days are long, the weather is beautiful, and there’s this energy in the air—everyone’s out enjoying the sunshine, having picnics… Oh, and if you’re into good food, great coffee and smell of sweet cinnamon buns, your taste buds are in for a treat.
I went to Stockholm in June (2025) most recently, literally with the mission to cross out all (or, well, a lot) of cool coffee shops, delicious pastries and trendy bars the Swedish capital has to offer.

As a digital nomad, I was on a side quest of looking out for work-friendly cafes, so you’ll see some notes on the word-friendliness of each listed below 😉
So if you’re looking for the perfect spot to have a little hygge “fika” break (a Swedish tradition of slowing down and enjoying a cardamom bun – it can really be any sweet or savoury treat), here are some of my favourite cafes in Stockholm.
Systrarna Andersson
My first stop was this quirky little cafe in Vasastan, cherished on TikTok by coffee enthusiasts as having the best coffees in town. I was also intrigued by the trendy instagram-friendly interior. I went there at 9am on a Thursday to get some work done and it was pretty empty and quiet – perfect spot to take some meetings. So how was the coffee? I got the cold brew (no milk) and it was honestly one of the best cold brews I’ve had outside of the US.
This place gets super busy during lunch time tho! It’s definitely a popular spot among locals.
PS, here’s a little bonus side note: it’s right next to the Acne Studios Archive sale (you can bag some really cool one-off Acne stuff there for a bargain) 😉
Address: Sankt Eriksgatan 102, 113 62 Stockholm
Opening Times: Mon-Fri: 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM, Sat-Sun: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Why should it be on your list: It’s run by two sisters who started the cafe out of their passion for baking. It has a super hygge (Swedish word for “cozy”) vibe and homemade Swedish pastries – aka cinnamon buns.
Is it work friendly? Yes, very much so! It has amazing vibe, loads of other people on their laptops and many outlets to charge your laptop..oh and bathroom with a good selfie mirror.

Stora Bageriet
Stora Bageriet is just one of those places that feel so effortlessly cool and boho. It’s located in Östermalm in the oldest industrial building in Stockholm. And let me tell you, when it comes to the ratio of best cafes and best pastries – this place is a 10/10. I went there for breakfast and went off my normal script of ordering cinnamon and cardamom buns in Stockholm. I decided to shake things up a bit and get the apple cinnamon bun, which was so scrumptious, like a warm bite of autumn. The only negative about this place is that it’s genuinely hard to decide which bun or pastry to get as they all look so delicious and freshly-baked.
Address: Sibyllegatan 2, 114 51 Stockholm
Opening Times: Mon-Fri: 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM, Sat-Sun: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Whyshould it be on your list: If you’re looking for hyper trendy cafés, this is it. They have cool seasonal specialties that are a hit. The location used to be a bakery that suppled the military with fresh bread.

Fabrique
Next stop – Fabrique in Kungsholmen. Now, I know, it’s a chain and chains are usually not that exciting. But, hear me out, I think for a non-Swede, Fabrique is the exact rustic vibe and aesthetics that you’d expect to see when you think “Swedish pastries” or “Swedish cafe”. While it’s definitely not the most unique cafés on this list, I think it’s a must-visit for anyone visiting Stockholm.
The coffee was good, however, I did order a wild card breakfast here and was VERY pleasantly surprised – passion fruit chia dessert – :chefs kiss:. Oh, and do try their cinnamon rolls as well.
Address: Many locations across Stockholm
Why should it be on your list: It’s a Stockholm classic. And they use traditional stone ovens to bake their bread and is a hit among bread and coffee lovers.
Is it work friendly? They allow laptops but I was unable to locate any outlets. So, yes, it’s work friendly, for up to 4h* max (*dependant on your laptop model).

Wilmer Kaffebar
Now this one – Wilmer Kaffebar – was a random find for me. I was just walking past and even from the outside, I was intrigued! The place has a very unique vintage decor – think “more is more” – in a good way. It’s a pretty tiny and intimate cafe that has a super unique and cozy vibe to it! It’s a place where you’d want to just sit and people watch and get inspired by all the cool ultra trendy Scandi girls..and boys.
The coffee was amazing – that to me means “super strong”. I had the iced Americano, which very often can be watered down so bad that it literally contains exactly 3 drops of coffee over a cup of water. PS, get their cardamom bun, you won’t regret.
Address: Södermannagatan 43, 116 40 Stockholm
Opening Times: Mon-Fri: 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM, Sat-Sun: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Why should it be on your list: The decor alone is a reason to visit but the café frequently hosts live music events in the evenings.
Was is work friendly? Well, technically yes if you go before 11AM, after that, no laptops allowed.

Vete-Katten
I have to be honest – I came here for the princess torte, not so much for the coffee. Did I specifically Google for “best princess torte in stockholm” – I absolutely did. And I genuinely believe that my google research nailed it this time and that everyone should go here for the princess torte. It was so so so delicious – sweet and fluffy whipped cream with the sour touch of raspberry jam, topped off with a thin layer of marzipan. As a side note, I was on a mission to try all the princess tortes I could find, and you’d be amazed that Vete-Katten and 7/11 ones were my top picks.
Situated in Norrmalm (city centre), it’s a quintessential Swedish fika spot with all the pastries and cakes. Somehow, it has a very genuine feel to it.
Address: Kungsgatan 55, 111 22 Stockholm
Opening Times: Mon-Fri: 7:30 AM – 8:00 PM, Sat-Sun: 9:30 AM – 7:00 PM
Why should it be on your list: It’s an iconic spot (established in 1928) with historic interior and delicious treats.

Augustas Folk Salon
Augustas Folk Salon was another TikTok find for me. But listen, this place is so unique and quirky that you just need to visit to see it. The cafe is lit up by candles, doesn’t use electricity and has a pretty eclectic decor, it’s like stepping back in time – 18th century vibes. And very fittingly, it’s situated in the Gamla Stan (Old Town). The americano was superb – aka strong! And extra bonus points for the adorable china cups.
I think Augustas Folk Salon is one of in Stockholm’s best cafés for the location and cozy atmosphere alone. It’s just such a charming café with a feel of old-Stockholm, they serve excellent coffee from cute cups and as a bonus, it’s the best people watching spot!
Address: Folkungagatan 69, 116 22 Stockholm
Opening Times: Mon-Fri: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM, Sat-Sun: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Why should it be on your list: The café’s interior is decorated with vintage furniture and art from local artists – that’s pretty cool.

Fotografiska Restaurant
If you plan on visiting the infamous Fotografiska gallery (which I recommend you do ;)), make sure to pop by the cafe on the top floor for the stunning views over Gröna Lund. This place also gets a bonus point for their strong focus on sustainability, using local, seasonal produce and having an extensive (and innovative) vegetarian menu.
Address: Stadsgårdshamnen 22, 116 45 Stockholm
Opening Times: Mon-Sun: 9:00 AM – 11:00 PM
Why should it be on your list: You can hit two birds with one stone – combine a cultural visit with a gourmet experience.
